Things You Must See: March

Websites
I have  certain love for Emotional Baggage Check, a music website in which you can either "check your bags" by writing a problem of your's or just something you are struggling with and then leaving your email or you can "carry a bag" and write a little note of reassurance to this mystery person and leave a link to a song that you think connects to the topic. I really love this website for I have used it in the past and it really shows you that people care and want to help.
source
Books
This month, I ended up finishing Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock in a day. Not only was the novel perfectly written, the plot was so twisted and beautiful and the character development was A+. The novel follows Leonard, a teenager going through issues with loneliness and abandonment, making the decision to kill his ex-best friend and then himself on his birthday. Everything about it was so unique and Matthew Quick did an extraordinary job of really putting you into Leonard Peacock's mind.
Movies
As awesome as "Frozen" was, Hazel Haye's short film "Super Brainy Zombies" was no doubt my favorite movie last month. The twenty minute film revolves around Hazel and You Tubers such as Chris Kendall, Benjamin Cook, and Jack Howard surviving the zombie apocalypse. As great as the entire film was, the end of it blew me away.

Things You Must See: January

Music
I have been really liking The Pretty Reckless. Lead singer, Taylor Momsen, is so angst filled and puts so much emotion (mostly anger) into the songs. All of their tracks get stuck in your head (mostly Make Me Wanna Die) and are so fun yet they have variety with slower more emotional songs such as "You" and "Zombie". Also, Taylor Momsen is a total babe inside and out.
Websites
Is it taking self promotion to a whole new level if I put my own website in here? I recently started a personal blog ! My reasoning for this was because as much as I absolutely love How Fitting, I really wanted an actual blog also. Don't worry guys! I am still putting all my effort in here but I am still going to be writing at Pubescent Drama Queen (get my Pierce The Veil reference there).
Television
I have recently gotten extremely into Freaks and Geeks! Though it is very different to the other shows I watch such as Doctor Who and Supernatural, I like how non intense the entire show is and the type of relatable comedy they use.
Movies
A couple of my camp friends and I recently got together with one of my favorite movies ever, "10 Things I Hate About You". Everyone in the room had different tastes and the romantic comedy had something for everybody. Also, who can resist Patrick Verona?

Things You Must See- End Of The Year Edition

Music
With the year of 2013 almost coming to an end, there were some amazing albums that came out this year (that I have not talked about yet) such as Bring Me The Horizon's Sempiternal, Paramore's self titled album, Kate Nash's Girl Talk, and Alex Day's Epigrams and Interludes which are all extremely amazing albums that I would seriously suggest.
Movies
There were an insane amount of great short films released this year! My two favorites would have to be Charlie McDonnell's "The Tea Chronicles" and Bertie Gilbert's "Stray Dog" which were both so extremely weird and wonderful. In addition, Charlie will be releasing his second film, "Offline" which from what he has described, is a disaster film about when the Internet shuts down. Knowing Charlie (and from seeing the trailer), there will be a whole lot of comedy involved! Another one of my favorite movies that was released last month would have to be "This Is A Wasteland", a documentary that follows the crazy tour of Pierce The Veil.
Television
At this year's Vidcon, Hannah Hart, Grace Helbig, and Mamrie Hart announced that the trio were filming a web series titled "Camp Takota". The show has been rumored to be released this month on YouTube! Knowing these three girls, "Camp Takota" will be filled with comedy and great acting.
Happy December!

Things You Must See: November

Music
By far, my favorite music video released last month would have to be Carrie Hope Fletcher's video for her original song, "The Way We Were". The entire video is incredibly dreamy and just so beautiful. Carrie looks absolutely gorgeous as usual and the entire setting captures the beauty in Fall. People can also relate to the entire video and song plot extremely well. My favorite part of the entire video (which was produced by Alex Day) was instead of her hiring people to portray her friends in the video, she used her own YouTube buddies such as Tom Law, Dodie Clark, Benjamin Cook, Alex Day, Jack Howard, and others.
Books
Though I haven't been reading much lately (that's a first), I just want to make a quick statement on how Alex Day is meant to come out with his first ever novel by the end of the year. The title is completely spacing my brain at the moment but it is a non fiction book about the London underground stories which to me, sounds extremely interesting.
Movies
One of the best movies that I have seen lately was the one and only Bling Ring. Not only did Emma Watson do a fantastic job, but the entire film was incredibly interesting and almost funny in a way. I found that it gave a really amazing look into the case and made you really think about the robbers as people. The end is not doubt my favorite part now (this contains spoilers) when Emma Watson's character, Nikki, lies about not being a part of the crime and basically calls her friends pathetic. It really touched me on how a girl could just throw her friends under the bus to save her reputation and I kept that ending scene in my head for days.
Television and YouTube
Here I am yet again to talk about another YouTube series. Project Library is could possibly be one of the funniest yet dramatic shows on YouTube. The series staring YouTube stars such as Jack Howard and Matt, follows a library that is so close to closing down that it resorts to a man who checked out a book that is worth a million dollars in fines. This show could possibly be the definition of "that escalated quickly" in that it goes from a phone call about returning the book titled "Rory The Dinosaur" to people coming in with guns to get the fines. Yeah it is pretty ridiculous and that is what I find they are going for and what makes it so good.

Happy November!

Sunday Diary: Who You Are Is Not What You've Been

The air is brisk as I walk past all the same familiar homes. The leaves crunch under my favorite black boots. You can smell Autumn in the air. I walk up the stone pathway of the elementary school I used to attend. I soon stop and sit myself down on the prickly grass. It is slowly dying just like all the other nature around me. I am just there in the front of the school cross legged as I check my phone. I am not even really sure what I am doing here. I just like the scene. I like the welcoming doors and rainbow sign that tells you when all the events are. It sure is much happier and cheery than the middle school. I pick myself up, about to leave, when I spot three familiar steps. The same stone steps I sat on every morning of fifth grade. I used to always want to be the first to sit on them so I could brag to my friends. Now, I find there to be comfort in being the last to get to school. The setting is beyond peaceful. There are no cars or shouts or even voices to break this moment. I close my eyes, thinking back to my times in fifth grade. I used to cringe at every single one but now I am at peace with these experiences. My actions are not erasable and therefor the only thing I can really do is just not care about them anymore. As Taylor Swift once said, who you are is not what you've been. This makes me think about how I should really come to peace with all those terrible memories. So what if I was a bitch a year ago? As long as I am not that person in the present, I am fine.

I'm Sick Of Being The Bitch You Think I Am

So I have been going through a serious Kate Nash obsession lately and I found a lot of pretty things on Tumblr the other day and well so this happened....

Things You Must See: October

Music
Finally, the extended version of All Time Low's "Don't Panic!" was released this monday! Post here
Television
Glee has returned! Though I am not nearly as big a fan as I used to be, the Beatles themed episode was kind of adorable in every way. Though I probably won't be keeping up with the show, the premiere episode was somewhat decent.
Websites
One of my new favorite online magazines has to be Outsider Zine the entire magazine has very Rookie feel to it while still being extremely unique. They also talk quite a lot about feminism which is absolutely perfect.
a snapchat to Fiona
Books
By far, I am most excited about this. On October first, Tavi Gevinson finally released the Rookie Yearbook Two! Though I have not picked up my own copy yet, Fiona has told me great things about it. I mean, how could twelve full months of Rookie mag not be extraordinary?

Friday Extra: I Used To Think Dark Was What You Should Be Afraid Of But Actually, It Makes Everything More Exciting

One of my favorite YouTube videos ever created was titled "My Missing Letter" by Christian Novelli in which he talks about all the things he did during the Summer. From going to Warped Tour to visiting his friends in England and exploring abandoned houses, to jamming out with Bribry, Christian had an adventure. He ends the video with saying
"I don't believe in putting an address on where you live. Never stay still." I took that quote into way too much consideration. Think about it, why sit on my bed up in my room instead of going on an adventure? So that right there is my new mission in life. I don't want to stay in the same place. I want to just go on an adventure and that is kinda sorta exactly what I am going to do. I'm going to climb trees and run places and some other stuff that I have no idea what they are but trust me, I will figure it out. To figure out what I wanted to do in the small time called the human life span, I wrote up a list of verbs I want to accomplish. OK OK you could call it a bucket list but I am going to go with "Adventure List" so oh well.
Read. Draw. Go to that park in town that I always say I will go to but never do. Start a blog based off of tea parties I have. Have tea parties. Ride a bike. Go rollerskating. Take a really long train and meet Fiona. Get over old friends. Get over everything. Go somewhere really cool. At night. Do everything at night. Run. Skip. Video chat more with Pietro. Make music with all my talented friends who make music. Be in a really kick ass band. Learn how to knit.
That is all for now. Over and out.

Things You Must See: September

Well here we are and the Summer is soon coming to a close hopefully, the things I have put together will somehow cheer you up!
Music
I have about three friends who are into the whole punk pop and screamo genres of music and after having my friend Elana basically tell me "Ann, if you don;t listen to Fall Out Boy then I will never talk to you again", I caved in and had a listen to their latest album, "Save Rock And Roll" I kind of sort of got addicted. I really love the intensity of Fall Out Boy and trust me, about all of their songs will get stuck in your head.
Websites
I have recently discovered one of my new favorite blogs written by a ninth grader in my town. Crazerluzer is absolutely adorable and I love Luz's fashion taste. Her writing is amazing and just the entire website it so cute!
Television and Videos
I have two this month for I couldn't decide which one I wanted to blog more about! One day, while I was scrolling through YouTube, I came across one of my new favorite vloggers ever. Christian Novelli has this adorable personality and can just make me laugh how cute he is. Christian has this shy, clever, and really cute personality and just does so well in front of a camera. Only in a Christian Novelli video could someone write a One Direction fanfiction in which Harry Styles and Louis Tomilson play Scrabble and get into a fight or Chris could paint a wooden penguin statue and just simply say "I believe he is planning to overthrow the government." Next, I must talk about the thing that has been taking over my life. Supernatural. Though at first, I wasn't really sure if it my thing since I am terrified of everything, but once watching it, I was hooked. The plot of each episode is so thrilling and the character development is incredible. I mean it gets to the kind of addiction where I seriously finished an entire season in a day. A DAY. Expect a full out post about this show later on.
Movies
Source
This month, my friend Vivi called me up telling me there was a documentary about our favorite movie ever, "Trolls 2" and I had to see it. Best Worst Movie follows the lives of the actors after what was voted to be the worst movie of all time and their lives now. Not only do you see how the main characters from "Trolls 2" are doing but see the full out fandom made around this terrible horror film. Though I could talk and laugh about this for hours, I don't want to spoil anything for you!

Things You Must See: August

Well hello there lovely! We have hit the last month of Summer. As much as I would love to say that I had a two months so far full of going to the beach and partying, I have done absolutely nothing with my social life at all. I am not lying when I say that right when I realized that, I had to break momentarily just to text my friend about how I need to hang out with her. There is a point of my introversion where things can get a little insane.... Anyways, I am extremely excited to be writing about the things you must see for August!
Music
In my last three posts, I have suggested amazing artists such as Emma Blackery, Lights, and Sleeping With Sirens! I am also absolutely excited to talk about Tavi Gevinson. OK OK I realize that I talk about her every five seconds, but this is not about her fashion or Rookie. No Tavi is not only a writer and actress but she is an amazing singer on top of it all. One of my favorite covers would have to be "Case Of You" which she performed for Hello Giggles on YouTube (video above). Her voice is delicate and gorgeous.
Websites
With me having spent an entire day trying to think up some changes (for the good) of How Fitting and thought since I am on the Internet about twenty four hours a day, I figured that it would be appropriate to add a category on websites. One of the websites that I blame for distracting me from being productive would have to be Ask.fm a social network where people are encouraged to ask questions anonymously and have them answered by the person they were asked. This website can help others get closer to each other by asking the things they are a little too embarrassed to ask in person.
(My ask.fm: http://ask.fm/AnnPayne559)
Videos and TV
Tumblr- Benjamin Cook
yet again, I have not been watching about any TV therefor I turned this section into "videos and Television" so I am able to add what I watch about half the day: YouTube Videos. One of my favorite series on YouTube has been "Becoming YouTube" a documentary series hosted by the always lovely, Benjamin Cook who is himself yet at the same time kind of plays this overly emotional, angry person. One of the best parts of this series is that not only do we see Ben but every single episode features interviews from amazing other You Tubers such as Alex Day, Charlie McDonnell, Dan and Phil, Lex Croucher, Tom Milsom, Carrie Hope Fletcher, etc. Every single episode is different and touches different corners and topics of the popular video sharing website from musicians being on YouTube to what YouTube isn't, Ben touches everything. The entire series is deep yet hilarious with skits of some pretty ridiculous things. Last week's episode had to be the best one I have ever seen in which Tom Milsom writes a song titled "Becoming YouTube Was A Waste Of Time". What could be better than a man with bright red hair yelling and making fun of himself with other You Tubers?
Books
source
Though camp was not exactly the time to read, before I left I read probably the best memoir I have ever written. Rapture Practice is a hilarious memoir following a young teenager trying to brake away from his extremely conservative Christian family. The entire memoir is not only down right funny but is also endlessly interesting. Being brought up as a Jew, I have never really had an idea of what Christianity was in depth. Though Aaron's family is a little extreme, it gives people a look into some of the different types of people out there. From having to transfer schools for buying his girlfriend a "Pretty Woman" soundtrack to playing hymns with a hangover, the entire novel is insane.
Movies
Aside from our lovely new writer, Fiona writing about movies every week, I still thought it would be OK if I write once a month about my own opinions. "Warm Bodies" was what you could call "the better Twilight" the movie provides comedy and still a rather interesting and intense romance. The one thing I was annoyed with was that they did not do nearly as many beauty shots as they should have with the hot zombie. I mean if you are going to make a teen zombie romance, glamour shots are mandatory.

Happy August!

Things You Must See: June

Extremely sad news here guys. With me going off to camp on the 23, there will be no posts until four weeks later. I don't think anyone is more sad than I am about all this. Meaning this is my last "Things You Must See" before I leave for camp! I like to look on the bright side of everything and me going off to camp really isn't a tragedy. I love camp! Anyways, I am EXTREMELY exited to share with you the things you must see for the month of June!
Music
For May, I was mostly jamming out to artists such as Bethan Mary Leadley, Luke Cutforth, and Bribry! One thing all three of these singers have in common is that they are all youtubers! With Luke Cutforth being a more comedic singer, he still has "We Were" and "A Million Years" which are unique and extremely well written. Bethan's songs are more classic and personal. If you have ever seen her videos you can see her personality shining through in her songs. My all time favorite of her songs would have to be "If Taylor Taught Me Anything" for you can seriously hear real emotion blasting in her voice. To talk about Bribry, I can only say that his voice is gorgeous. Seriously, when I first heard his song "Staying Together" for the first time, I was blown away. This guy is talented beyond anything. His music is different and so almost magical.
My Play List:
June Music
Television
I will admit. I haven't been watching much television. So instead of talking of a new show that I've been watching, I chose to talk about an old one that I have been crazy for for a long time. Catfish is one of the most intense and suspenseful shows I have ever seen for the reason for you never know what could happen. This MTV show revolves around the topic of online relationships in which filmmaker Nev, goes to different cities meeting people who have been talking to others online for awhile and seek to find if they say they really are. Every episode makes you wonder up until you find this mysterious person. I have to say Catfish gives everyone a window into the weird and wonderful world of online relationships.
Books
Again with my problem with staying on one book. I absolutely love to read but I can't help but start a new novel in the middle of another one! This month, I am proud to say that I finished another one! Winger by Andrew Smith was extraordinary I must say. With the main character, Ryan Dean being the most angst-y teenager in world, the entire novel is interesting and extremely funny. The best part was I could seriously relate to Ryan in my own life and understood where he was coming from.
Movies
Is this just a time where there are no good movies in theatres? Could you call this a movie drought? Have no fear! Charlie McDonnell is here! With Charlie's new short film "The Tea Chronicles", I have been extremely exited! With people such as Chris Kendall, Khyan Mansly, and Jenny Bingham nothing can be better! I oddly cannot entirely explain the eleven minute film for it could have been one of the weirdest things I have seen. I mean, how many of us has seen a physiological horror comedy about tea? Yet another strange yet amazing video from Charlie.

There you have it! Some truly awesome stuff to enjoy for June! Out of total excitement for anyone to see it, I put "The Tea Chronicles" below for you to watch!
Happy June!

Things You Must See: May

I cannot believe that it's already May! For this week's post, I ended up pausing from a post on thrift shopping (you'll see it soon enough) and get writing on an awesome list of things you must see for May! I will be warning you, with my upcoming bat mitzvah this month, I will be refraining from blogging for a little bit. I will be posting things just not as much. I don't think anyone is more sad about this than me. So here we go:
Music
This month, I've been wanting to take back the oldies. I have been recently going back into the songs from the late 90s and early 2000s. My favorites at the moments would have to be Aaron Carter and The Backstreet Boys. Almost all of us have jammed out to "I Want Candy" and "I Want It That Way". And yes indeed I did think "I Want Candy" was about actual candy.... One thing I am head over heels crazy about is the fact that Aaron Carter is back (and absolutely adorable)! I don't even need to go into how much I need to see him. in addition, he is touring with the gorgeous girl band, Petrel. A band of three sisters including Destiny, Bekah, and Jess Petrel. All three of them are amazing, stunning, and talented musicians.
Television
One thing extremely exiting in the month of April was the return of MTV's Awkward. Awkward has climbed it's way up to being one of my favorite shows currently. The show revolves around the unpopular and rather socially girl Jenna Hamilton. After following Jenna through three other seasons (and a rather twilight-like scenario where she chooses between two boys) we have finally reached junior year where it seems as though basically anything can happen. It's funny, relateble, and has super cute guys. What more could you ask for?
Books
I have finally gotten my hands on a copy of Tavi Gevison's Rookie Yearbook! It's almost impossible to explain my deep love for this collection of artwork, photographs, essays, and articles. This book is gorgeous inside and out. I would call it the older version of an "American Girl" book on growing up. Tavi Gevinson is a beautiful, fashionable, creative, genius.

Food
With this being a section in this annual post, I am happy to say that I had fun stuffing my face with food. One of the best things I have made in April would have to be M&M Pancakes. Yes, pancakes with freaking M&Ms inside of them. I hope with all my that you're a better chef than I am.

Things You Must See- April

Happy April! Now that we've said goodbye to the month of March, it's time for something new! Over the past few weeks I have come up with a list of things you must see. Warning: After reading this you may no longer have a life.
Music
Over the past couple months I have begun to say good-bye to the Pop genre and bands such as One Direction and singers like the lovely Taylor Swift and have gotten into a serious obsession with Punk and Rock.
The best Punk band I'd recommend would have to be All Time Low an edgy band with the members Rian Dawson, Zack Merrick, Alex Gaskarth, and Jack Barakat. Most of their songs have a certain edge of attitude and defiance that anyone who likes the Punk Rock genre will instantly fall in love with.
I've also lately been obsessed with "Punk Goes Pop" a collection of different artists who take popular pop songs and turn them into punk. It's really awesome to see songs that you hear on the radio be remixed into this genre. The album features bands like: MayDay Parade, The Ready Set, Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, and tons of other amazing punk bands.
Rock On All You Punk Lovers. Rock ON.

Television
One of my favorite shows in the world would have to be The New Normal, a comedy about a gay couple and their surrogate and her homophobic grandmother. One of the many reasons why I love this show is for how unique it is and how funny you can take a situation that many people are going through.
Another show that I highly recommend is the FOX comedy New Girl. New Girl is extremely funny and the characters oddly relate able. It's quirky, funny, and it will get you addicted.

Books
I have the attention span of a three year old child so I tend to never finish books but this month I am proud to actually say that I have finished a novel and genuinely enjoyed it. The Vast Fields Of Ordinary is a novel about a young gay teenager who has only come out to a couple of his friends and himself. Throughout the span of the book the main character, Dade meets some pretty cool people including an open lesbian, a gay drug dealer, and an overly awkward girl. To be honest, I actually enjoyed reading it. Judge me.

Food
When it comes to food, all I can seem to think about this month is the fact that Mega Stuff Oreos are in existence. Not double stuff. I'm talking Mega freaking stuffed. All I can say is that they are magical.

Hope you have an AMAZING April! I'm dearly sorry if you no longer have any life after getting into any of the things I suggested!
