Things You Must See: May

I cannot believe that it's already May! For this week's post, I ended up pausing from a post on thrift shopping (you'll see it soon enough) and get writing on an awesome list of things you must see for May! I will be warning you, with my upcoming bat mitzvah this month, I will be refraining from blogging for a little bit. I will be posting things just not as much. I don't think anyone is more sad about this than me. So here we go:
Music
This month, I've been wanting to take back the oldies. I have been recently going back into the songs from the late 90s and early 2000s. My favorites at the moments would have to be Aaron Carter and The Backstreet Boys. Almost all of us have jammed out to "I Want Candy" and "I Want It That Way". And yes indeed I did think "I Want Candy" was about actual candy.... One thing I am head over heels crazy about is the fact that Aaron Carter is back (and absolutely adorable)! I don't even need to go into how much I need to see him. in addition, he is touring with the gorgeous girl band, Petrel. A band of three sisters including Destiny, Bekah, and Jess Petrel. All three of them are amazing, stunning, and talented musicians.
Television
One thing extremely exiting in the month of April was the return of MTV's Awkward. Awkward has climbed it's way up to being one of my favorite shows currently. The show revolves around the unpopular and rather socially girl Jenna Hamilton. After following Jenna through three other seasons (and a rather twilight-like scenario where she chooses between two boys) we have finally reached junior year where it seems as though basically anything can happen. It's funny, relateble, and has super cute guys. What more could you ask for?
Books
I have finally gotten my hands on a copy of Tavi Gevison's Rookie Yearbook! It's almost impossible to explain my deep love for this collection of artwork, photographs, essays, and articles. This book is gorgeous inside and out. I would call it the older version of an "American Girl" book on growing up. Tavi Gevinson is a beautiful, fashionable, creative, genius.

Food
With this being a section in this annual post, I am happy to say that I had fun stuffing my face with food. One of the best things I have made in April would have to be M&M Pancakes. Yes, pancakes with freaking M&Ms inside of them. I hope with all my that you're a better chef than I am.

Sunday Diary:4/28/13- Hey There!

After lots of planning out and thinking, I have finally decided on doing something called a "Sunday Diary" after reading Tavi's first blog "Style Rookie" and the style of how it was written I decided it was a good idea to take you into well, my life. "The Style Rookie" is basically Tavi's online diary made into a blog. Clearly, I'm not an exact copy of Tavi Gevinson and I don't plan on making "How Fitting" an exact copy of "The Style Rookie". I like how my posts are more like articles from a magazine and more straight to the point. That's my blogging style. I would never change it for I like how there is a big difference between Ann Louise and Tavi Gevinson (as fabulous as she is). Tavi takes you into her world and almost forms a relationship or even bond between herself and the reader and I admire that. I feel as though most of you don't know me. Or know me as the quiet girl in class who is awkward beyond anything and seems to know a thing or two about fashion.
I have been trying to bring new things into "How Fitting" my little project started out as just some fashion blog and now has turned into fashion, music, and lifestyle. That is a big deal to me. I first started posting articles whenever but now I have decided on becoming more frequent. So after nights of staring up at the ceiling wondering what the hell I was going to do I finally came up with the idea of this:

Sunday: Sunday Diary! I am really exited about this new blogging day for it'll give me a chance to share amazing experiences, weird thoughts, and just well the awkwardness that is Ann Louise.

Tuesday: Music and/or Lifestyle! With my vlogging videos being filmed on Monday also, I am willing to put my youtube-ing aside as a lower priority to focus on something that means more to me (not that I don't LOVE vlogging) and talk about different music! This is something I'm pretty freaking exited about for I can't explain how much I could go on and on about music and now have a place to rant, joke, and suggest every week! I am also going to be spending Tuesdays writing up a lifestyle blog! As much as I'd LOVE to do both,  still being a student it is harder for me to do everything and some weeks I will have to choose between the two and only write one post on Tuesday.
Wednesday: Fashion blogging! This is what this project was always about. There is probably nothing that I love more than fashion. These days I will be covering what I usually write about: get the look, trends, DIY, and all that good stuff. I am hoping you guys will stick with me through me my weird fashion trends.
Friday: Friday Extra! These posts will just be fun (and maybe a little stupid) posts to start your weekend with a fun start! I did an experiment with this kind of post last week and to my surprise, it worked out rather well!
Beginning/Ending of months: In the beginning of the month, I will be spending my time writing up "Monthly Fashion Bibles" about the fashion trends you guys should try out this month! Even though these posts aren't necessary, I almost feel attached to them for my first ever post on this blog (my baby) was a March Fashion Bible and that's where I got all that positive feedback to keep writing (a BIG thank you to you all)! At the end of the month, I am very exited to make a "Things You Must See" post where I basically give you lovely readers a preview of what will be coming next month in all categories (except for fashion)

I'm really exited yet scared about this new scheduling thing. I just want you guys to know that I'm EXTREMELY dedicated to this blog and that even if I'm never as successful as Tavi Gevinson I will still be here, holding on to make it there.

The "It" Girl- Bridie Mcdonnell

Bridie McDonnell is one girl that just like her older brother Charlie, we've all seen grow up. All Charlie McDonnell viewers over the years have seen Bridie go from her long messy locks, to her sleek bangs and shoulder length locks, finally to her sophisticated bob. Most of us has seen what was Charlie's cute little sister become a gorgeous young adult and pretty amazing fashion icon.
Bridie has appeared in a handful of Charlie's videos including: The Hoedown Throw down, Drinking Ketchup, and Understanding Teenage Girls. In most of his YouTube uploads, Bridie has always played the shy little sister by refusing to come on camera and being rather quiet. I find Bridie McDonnell to be most like her brother by keeping to herself.

Bridie's hair is one of her best features and something that makes me jealous everyday. She happens to be one of those people who can wear their hair however they want. She's gone through about every stage. Long hair, medium length, bangs, and currently her flattering short bob.
The one thing I admire most about Bridie McDonnell is her edgy outfits. She is so different and looks gorgeous in about anything! Her style is very conservative and stylish. As you can see in the picture to the right, her outfits have elements of vintage and modern style. At the moment, her clothing is rather flowy and looks carefree yet elegant. Bridie has a very thin frame and even though I would suggest tighter clothing to show off her gorgeous body, she still look stunning in her looser pieces. The long, draping, dresses and shirts also flatter her recent bob cut.
Bridie has gone from the shy little sister to an edgy role model for fashion and style. To this day, she is still young but seems to own it. I can almost bet you she gets more and more beautiful everyday.

Spring and Summer Trends!

Spring has sprung! I am ecstatic about this Spring and Summer! Not only is the weather nice, but think of all the cute outfits! Today, my sister Rachel and I spent the day putting together a series of pictures for all you lovely readers! Here you go:
Sun Dresses
After a long, cold, Winter and Fall, it's finally time to toss the tights and leggings and show some skin! Sun dresses are a cute and girly look that is a perfect way to break in the warm weather. Bright colors are the best but like the piece worn in the picture to the right, a dark dress with a pop of
color can be just as fashionable!

Sperry's
Here's a secret: Sperry shoes are made for boating! I find it absolutely awesome that someone turned something so simple and down to Earth and turned them into a Summer fashion staple! Sperry's come in all sorts of colors (and glitters!) I chose pink floral ones this year to get a more summery look. I like Sperry shoes for they are glamorous and give you a down to Earth and summery look at the same time.

Top Knots
One of my most favorite Summer hairstyles are the topknot! I like these high buns for it gives a careless beachy look and you can put in any accessory with it! I chose to go with a brightly colored headband but other suggestions include: bobby pins, hair clips, ribbons, and bandannas! Topknots are also extremely easy to make!
Step One: Brush out your hair and have a couple clips and hair bands ready.
Step Two: Pull your hair up as if you're about to put it in a high ponytail. Once it is on top of your hair turn your high pony into a bun by pushing the hair into the ponytail holder.
Step Three: Now that the bun is up, take a couple more holders just to make sure the hair is in place
Step Four: The hair around the bun may be a little bunched up and will probably look a little weird and out of place. slip any headband of your choice over your head (make sure to be careful around your topknot!)

Pink Lips
Pink lipstick is a very girly and glam look! I used a very bright pink color by MAC for the reason that it went best with my outfit where as, any color pink looks absolutely gorgeous (don't overdo it!) I like using bright lipstick when I have a very dark or dull outfit so it gives a girly pop of color!

Light Weight Tops
Light tops are very careless and look amazing with a pair of shorts and flip flops or sandals (or even Sperry's)! My sister wore a bright orange top with a collar that gave off a vintage fashion vibe. These light weight, flowy tops can give off a careless Summer look!

High Rise Shorts
If you know anything about me, I am a sucker for anything vintage! These high rise shorts give off a spring look that makes everything look cute as a button! I suggest wearing a plain tank top so your shirt doesn't take away from your fashion statement shorts!
