My New Years Resolutions/Goals 2015

It is 9:12 pm as I write this and I am merely hours away from 2015 so it seemed appropriate to write out my new years resolutions that at this point, I hope to complete within this new year.
♥Get good grades and instead of watching Netflix all day, do schoolwork that I should be doing
♥See All Time Low on their tour- they've been my favorite band since 7th grade. It's about time.
♥Listen to more David Bowie. I don't enough.
♥Spend more time with people instead of sitting in my room.
♥Be on good terms with people I've fucked relationships up with.
♥Journal more often.
♥Write more music.
♥Get better at keyboard. I suck.
♥Start another novel.
♥Finish Nanowrimo.
♥Stop letting my anxiety disorder take over every single fucking thing I do.
♥Read more books.
♥Stop taking everything so incredibly personal.
♥Start talking to Pietro and Alessia again.

Rebel Rebel, You've Torn Your Dress

Winter break has been great so far. On Christmas eve, my family and I went down to see my uncle in the city and though we usually go to the Museum of Natural History (it's been a tradition since I was around 8), my dad left the tickets at home so we ended up at the Met which I was ecstatic about since I've been wanting to see "Death Becomes Her" since around September when my FIT professor recommended it. My dad and I split from my sister, mom, and uncle to go down to the Anna Wintour room and it was one of my favorite moments of the whole day. The exhibit was beautifully curated and so well done. I couldn't stop ranting about it for the rest of the day!

Actual Christmas wasn't nearly as exciting. My uncle came over along with a group of family friends from Hoboken and we ate dinner and opened presents at around ten at night. My uncle gave me fancy chocolates and a Topshop gift card (I'm super excited about that because there's one on Broadway that I can stop at though I'll probably just end up online shopping). The day after, I took my sister into the city wearing my mom's cheerleading shoes from high school that inevitably broke and I had to walk twenty blocks, barefoot, in only tights until I got to Buffalo Exchange and bought a pair of sequined platform shoes that I would've bought anyways (the entire trip down there, my sister kept asking if I was okay walking with just my sheer tights covering my feet- I'd done it before in the summer and would do it again). Before that incident though, I got to introduce Rachel to my friend, Jason, who works at Housing Works. Our friendship started one faithful day when he was wearing an Alaska Thunderfuck tee and we had a talk on Rupaul. Milk had just been in the store when me and my sister came and he was real excited about that. We also went down to Madison Square Park because it was nice and pretty outside and everything was fantastic.
RIP

Monday was my favorite day of them all. John, Sophia, Sam, and I all went down to the dirt mound by Sophia's to take photos (don't ask) and then ending up at an abandoned factory and walked around there. We then went geocaching which was really frustrating because it was cold outside and I wasn't wearing a proper jacket for the weather and John and Sophia ended up having to get through a bush of thorns to retrieve our capsule that held a rainbow loom and log of everyone that has been there- it was really amazing because some of the dates went back to around 2005. We got back to Sophia's and listened to her vinyl of May Death Never Stop You (though it somewhat defeats the purpose to have modern records on vinyl I think) before going out to the dinner in the village. We ended the night playing Cards Against Humanity at my house along with recording this gem
sam being adorable

whilst everyone climbed the mound, I stayed back

Mr. John Bell and Feminist Fatale

John and I exploring around the area
Anyways, this post comes with really awesome experiences but along with a huge change- with this, I end scheduling on this blog. The schedule I made for myself in seventh grade has caused me an incredible amount of stress along with quality to go down. I will of course stay with making music, fashion, and everything else posts just at times I want to and will continue to post outfit content.
See you,

Jingle Ball 2014

Three days before the show, I was invited by a friend who's dad works for Z100 to go to Jingle Ball 2014- this show has been one of my all time favorites for multiple reasons and I learned some valuable lesson such as:

  1. music is music even though every single artist there was considered "mainstream" and most people (including 7th grade Ann) were commenting on how artists on the radio are stupid and untalented and yeah I'm not going to fight that like all music in the world, some of it is ridiculous but as I've said in about every other concert post, there's something about seeing an artist live that makes you feel different. Seeing a group of singers and bands that were giving their all and having the time of their lives on the stage had me gain a bundle of respect for everyone that played that night. Music is music and music is fun no matter how "mainstream" or pointless it is. These are songs that I've known the lyrics to forever and have been shoved into my brain through parties and long drives with my mom and just completely letting go of everything and flailing around like crazy gave me a new found appreciation for these songs
  2. Charlie XCX is a complete babe. Not only did she look stunning, but I found it on a new level of cool that her band was made up of completely women- everyone looked super bad ass and I loved every minute of her set.
  3. There is no way not to cry when Taylor Swift is in the same place as you.
  4. Rita Ora is incredible.
  5. Nick Jonas' one song set is a mix between insulting and disappointing.
  6. Everything is better with a full choir behind you (connecting back to Nick)
  7. 5 Seconds of Summer really know how to kill it.
  8. Z100 and Pharrel still consider "Blurred Lines" an acceptable song.
  9. Everything is better if it has Gwen Steffani involved (connecting back to Pharrel).
  10. Jessie J is a beautiful person.
  11. Don't get so excited by Jessie J that you accidentally throw your phone into the isle in front of you.
  12. People can be complete dicks and spill beer all over your hair and the back of your sweater and not apologize

Merry Happy

Over this short term break I've taken a whole lot has happened. Without a boring intro that you probably won't read anyways, I'm just going to get right into it.
On November 14, I went to see the This Is Our Youth Times Talk at the Times Center in the city- the entire experience was pretty surreal and amazing. I got to the center fairly early since whenever I end up in general admission of anything my anxiety sky rockets and I feel the need to be about a day ahead to the event. I had the pleasure of standing in the cold, alone for a good hour or so because my mind came up with the weird thought that maybe if I became a sensible person and spent that hour somewhere else, the line would become enormous. I was finally let in and my long waiting really paid off because not only was I front and center, when Michael Cera entered the theatre through the front (unlike Kieren and Tavi who went in back) I was standing right in front of him and got to say a really excited "hello!" (he waved back and smiled) before he went in. The actual talk was insane and all three of them were hilarious and so well spoken. One of my favorite parts was when the interviewer played a scene from the show (all three of them were in extreme discomfort seeing themselves acting) and once it was over, Tavi says,
"It's like watching The Big Bang Theory!" I also got to ask the last question of the night in the Q&A and before I went on, Tavi and I made eye contact and she smiled at me! Sadly, I wasn't allowed to take any photos but I believe the talk was recorded on the Times website.
The Sunday of that weekend, I went into Madison Square park to teach myself how to draw a tree because the ones there look oddly geometric which I think is wonderful. This quickly turned into a session in which I drew some strange tree like things and then went into getting frustrated. I don't know why I felt the need to share this so much- it was just really different from anything I usually do. The park was quiet and therefor I could sit in the middle of the empty fountain and draw all the shitty pictures I wanted.
Overall, things have been absolutely fantastic.

New Kinda New

After years of following Bethan Leadley, she has finally released her EP, New Kinda New, and no doubt did she blow my expectations. I fell in love with her first ever album, Unrequited Love, in seventh grade and as extraordinary as it is, there are so many improvements Bethan made to her music that I couldn't be more proud of. For starters, Unrequited Love is rather depressing and though I loved all the songs on there, variety wasn't much a thing whereas New Kinda New expresses a wide array of emotions in every song which is something I feel really important for an artist to do.
Bethan announced her EP two weeks ago even though she hinted at in multiple videos and I was quick to preorder (there was a signed poster involved, how could you not?) and released the lyric video for "Left To Broken" last week. It featured YouTubers such as Evan Edinger, Nikki and Sammy, Tom Ridgewell, Tessa Violet, and many other lovely lovely people. After the EP dropped on the third, she put out the music video for "Safe Lined" which is also gorgeous and she looks fab in.
Onto the actual music in this EP, the first track is "Safe Lined" which is rather upbeat and has a simple guitar chord progression but really interesting percussion along with a loud chorus that showcases Bethan's gorgeous vocals. The production value has gone up a couple notches for New Kinda New with backup harmonies that gave the song a bit more personality. The lyrics are somewhat simple but you don't need awesome words to go along with a just plain fun song. Next is "Left To Broken" which has much more emotion that is A+. I like that she doesn't put in the simple rhymes she could have snagged and went with much more interesting message. The instrumental is very minimalistic and that does good for her voice that is killing it. The third track is my all time favorite, "Don't Wake Me Up" because though it has a sad vibe to it, the chorus is loud and beautiful and jaw dropping. The backup vocals are perfect and the entire song is incredibly powerful and strong. Lastly, is "Alright To Be Alright". Don't get me wrong I love Bethan's poppy voice but this has such a jazzy vocal feel that is insane- especially at the pre-chorus, she slays it and performs such a beautiful ballad.
Overall, I am such a fan of New Kinda New and would recommend it 100%- gold star Bethan.

I Think I'm In Friend Love With You

I've been getting emotional for really strange reasons over the past couple days. I teared up at John's early birthday party and I didn't know why because I wasn't sad and I've never cried happy tears in my life except for the first time I met Tavi but other than that, this is a new feeling. I love so many things and I can't even imagine having them taken from me because everything is working out finally. Everything about my friends and family and even self has been going smooth and OK and I'm at peace with everything.

My birthday present to John that I'm more than proud of (thank you Housing Works for three dollar books)

I got a package from Fiona the other day for my birthday that made me so happy and excited. It was mainly made up of really weird and wonderful things such as stickers, a rainbow loom bracelet, a pin that said "Bad Attitude" and other objects. My all time favorite present she gave me would have to be a book called I Think I'm In Friend Love With You because it's beautifully drawn and sums up my relationship with her. There was also a two page letter inside and it made me tear up yet again because I love Fee with all my heart.

Until next time,
