Ann's Top Ten: Lip Colors

MWAH! I, Ann Louise am a hoarder of two things
1) Magazines. I seriously have 74 (last count was three months ago) fashion magazines in a box inside of my closet. In addition, I have subscriptions to Seventeen, Nylon, and Teen Vogue even though I collect Glamour, regular Vogue and trashy gossip magazines.
2) Lip colors I love lipstick and carry three lip glosses everywhere I go. I will buy lip coloring depending on, texture, color, and scent. I probably have more lip stick than Sephora.
With my love of lipsticks, I give you Ann's Top Ten: Lip Colors! In which I show you my top ten favorite lip products! Enjoy!

10. Super Gloss "Bubblegum"
Bubblegum Lip gloss
This lip gloss is cute and girly which of course, I can't have enough of that! Not to mention how delicious this gloss smells! The texture is not too runny but isn't so tough that it feels as though your lips are stretching to spread it. The color gives off a glossy, casual, look which is perfect for just a casual everyday outfit.
Where to find: Drugstore
9. Lip slicks "Princess"
Princess Lip slick
Lipslicks perfect for they can help out those awful chapped lips and give off a gorgeous color! I like this color for it is noticeable it is not so dramatic that you have to dress up to make the makeup work. I carry a lip slick almost everywhere I go just in case I need a little swipe of lipstick anywhere. Also think of the name: this color makes me feel like a modern day princess.
Where to Find: Drugstores
Frappuccino
8. Ruby Kisses Jellilicious "Caramel  Frappuccino"
One of my biggest judging methods with lip colors is the scent. If I love the fragrance a lip gloss gives off, then I absolutely love having it on my lips and under my nose all day. This texture is perfect for leaving on my lips all day and giving a quick swipe without having a too hard time spreading. The color is also very unique and has a hint of creme color  in it that you can't seem to find without going full on nude. Also, the gloss is perfect for a more girly look!
Rasberry Splash
Where to Find: Drugstores
7. Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers "Raspberry Splash"
I originally bought a grape flavored Weslick Fruit Spritzer and loved it so much that I just had to buy the raspberry one! I prefer Rasberry Splash for its mouth watering scent and gorgeous color. This color is more juicer than my other lip glosses which gives off a summer vibe and goes with a light weight sun dress or a pair of shorts.
Blueberry Muffin
Where to find: Drugstores

6. Love and Beauty "Blueberry Muffin"
This scent is heavenly. Even though the pastry fragrance makes me seriously crave a blueberry muffin whenever I wear this gloss, I absolutely love it! The color is light and a little musty which does well in about every season even though my best outfit has been a long brown coat, a white button down, and a pair of khaki colored pants. I looked like a feminine version of a British school boy and loved it.
Where to Find: Forever 21
Pinch Me Pink
5. Lily Cola Lip and Cheek Dome "Pinch Me Pink"
What a cute color! The name ties in with this lipstick for it resembles the blushy pink your skin turns after being pinched. Not only can this make your lips a girly pink, but also stains your cheeks! Two in one! The unique dome shape that contains the lip coloring is a perfect container that many other lipsticks adopt. Oh my God and the texture is perfect! I don't mean to sound weird but I could swipe that dome across my lips and cheeks all day it feels amazing and creamy. OK that sounded a little strange...
Where to find: The Body Shop
4. Love and Beauty Hint Of Color "Strawberry"
Strawberry
I just bought this lip gloss and I already love it! My favorite lip gloss flavor would have to be strawberry and out of the thousands and thousands of this flavor this gloss is one of my favorites. Just as the tube says, it is a hint of color instead of being all too much pink. The shade blends in with my own lip color and has a sweet glossy glow that can own any outfit.
Where to Find: Forever 21
3. MAC "Blossom"
Blossom
WOAH! What a bright color! My favorite color being hot pink, this is perfect for me. I don't usually wear this color to casual places such as school but if you check back to my bat mitzvah sign in board photos you'll recognize that bursting hot pink!
Where to find: Drugstores

2. Clinique "Shy"
Shy
Even though the name of this lip color is "Shy" it is a rather dramatic look. This coloring is unique in the way that it is both lipstick and gloss. The way to use it is to put the lipstick on first and run a layer of gloss over it. I love the dramatic effect that gives to your lips ad draws a lot of attention to your makeup. The color is darker than most of my lipsticks and glosses and I usually save this one for more formal o
outfits and events.
Where to Find: Clinique Counter
Super Strawberry
1. Clinique Chubby Sticks "Super Strawberry"
And again with the strawberry lip coloring! Chubby sticks are my favorite type of lipsticks in the entire world. To me, these sticks look like those fat crayons you used to draw with in first grade except you are drawing a cute color onto your lips. The one thing that I love most about this lipstick is the fact that you can dress it up and down and wear it any season! T
his color works with everything!

I hope you take my suggestions and if YOU have any, leave them in the comments! I'd love to hear them!

The Perks Of Being A Blogger

Just today, something extremely special happened to me. Something on Twitter. Bethan Mary Leadley wrote me back on Twitter saying that not only did she read my British Invasion blog post, but she actually enjoyed it! After receiving such a special Twitter message I got to thinking how many special perks of being a blogger there are.
On February 25, 2013, I was bored. I had been reading ROOKIE and hearing about Tavi Gevinson's success with blogging and instantly knew that this was exactly what I wanted out of life and what I wanted to do. I had always loved writing and even wrote a novel in sixth grade (it was awful) and a couple fan fictions (Ed Sheeran, Alex Day, and Twilight) so why not create some sort of blog? I had never really written actual articles before much less anything about fashion. This continued a phase called
Young Tavi
I'm Not Good Enough
This was a TERRIBLE time. After seeing Tavi's style I instantly hated my own wardrobe and thought the only way to be noticed was to be an exact copy of her. I always felt awful and not "special" enough anymore. You could compare this phase towards Dan Howell's "Extrasensorial Crisis" in which he basically just wanted to change his life around. I wanted to change almost everything about myself from the clothes I wore to the music I listen to. I began throwing out clothing because it wasn't "Tavi enough". My love for this girl was becoming something that made me hate myself.
My favorite Tavi Outfit
Mwah!
This part is named after my God awful fail of an online magazine called "Mwah Mag". It wasn't the fact that my writing was terrible that bothers me. It was that I put no effort into my posts and thought that viewers would appear out of nowhere and make me a famous blogger. Sweetheart, it doesn't work that way. Within a week, I gave up for I figured that this would never work out. Here I give you the link to MWAH! Feel free to laugh about it.
Mwah Mag
Why The Hell Not?
Monday, February 25, I got bored at my house. I had been calming down with my whole wardrobe and actually starting to like what I was wearing. After refreshing Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr for about an hour the best thing to do was make some "dumb" blog just to give me something to do. I took a look at "The Style Rookie" Tavi's original blog for some ideas and came up with something called a "Fashion Bible". That first post was messy and disorganized but I put effort into it. The next step was coming up with a name for this blog. A couple weeks ago, I had made a fashion instagram called "how_fitting" and decided that was the best name for a blog. After fighting with myself, I took the risk and posted the link to this post my friends on G+. By the end of the day, I got lots of positive comments that made my heart do a little happy dance. I began posting more and more and coming with Music and Lifestyle posts. My writing was something I loved. At first, it was a big deal when I got five views on a post but the viewers and post views were soon rising. The whole thing was exiting and unbelievable to me. This was something I never imagined doing and I was here!
Ann Louise: Blogger
One of my closest online friends, Pietro started a blog and the two of us began talking about blogging and even doing some posts together! He is my blogging rock and whenever I have writer's block he can get me out of it. Besides, it's a good excuse to just talk to him more! I love blogging more than anything. So far not only has people such as Bethan noticed "How Fitting" but Bridie McDonnell said that she also loved my article of her! The experiences and friends I've made just through some website is absolutely amazing. I like to model my wardrobe and blog with some Tavi Gevinson elements but I do not intend of becoming an exact clone of her. She is a huge role model to me and if it wasn't for her, this whole website probably would not be here. I was the quiet unimportant girl before craeting this website and I feel almost like a different person. I now get to write about the things I love: Fashion, Music and all the other cool things I find in life. I want to thank YOU GUYS! You've given me The Perks Of Being A Blogger.
-Ann
I wrote this post in honor of my 1000th view on this very blog. I owe it to you guys. I love you all.

In Which Ann Crams Random Stuff Together

Hey Guys! So I would like to call this a "scrapbook blog" meaning it has no real subject so instead, I take small things from these past couple weeks that were too small to have their own blogs and make them into a one stop post. I split these little bits and bobs into sections for you to scroll through and look as you please. I  warn you this post will probably be pretty long. Here you go my loves:
Life Scouts- Music Month
All my posts for the month of April were sadly Lifescouts free for I hadn't come up with the idea of sticking my badges into my Sunday Diaries! So I am sharing with you all my badges and stories from Lifescouts Music Month!:
Play The Cello
When I signed up to play the Cello in the 5th grade orchestra, I had dreams of becoming a prodigy or some crazy shit like that. Being the lazy person I am, I practiced ONCE, learned NO notes and played random ones in the concert, and actually broke the damn instrument. Once I got into sixth grade, I'd had enough of the cello and quit orchestra in the first week. The teacher was pretty freaking angry at me and ended up giving my parents a series of calls about how I was throwing away a great opportunity in life. Yep, I'm sure twenty years from now when I'm a fashion writing the single thought going through my head will be "God I really wish I play the cello!"
Vocalist
Ever since I was little, I always loved singing. I am still shy about performing in front of others for I'm afraid my anxiety would go crazy but I continue to make covers on my YouTube channel which I love to do. Even though I do not believe I am particularly a GREAT singer it's just something I like to do and I mean were all bad at something right?

Go To A Concert
In my entire life, I have been to two concerts. My first one was when I was about ten years old and my best friend, Vivi and I saw Weird Al Yankovic in concert in Asberry Park. As you can guess, sitting close to the stage and having Al actually serenade my mom (yes it actually happened) that night was the best. The next concert I went to was actually this Summer to (don't laugh) Big Time Rush. OK OK I can explain. Viv and I were driving to Long Beach Island and saw the sign for BTR live. How could you resist that? In addition, that was at the same time that my sister was going through the James Maslow phase and we just HAD to get her to meet her future husband. Standing on the lawn with my ten year old sister and her best friend with a couple hundred fangirling rushers was the weirdest/ most fun experience ever.
Write A Song
I can see why my on experiences with songwriting may not exactly count but I thought it was all too entertaining to not share with you. In fifth grade, my best friend at the time and I kind of formed the stupidest band ever. I'm not kidding I think the two of us were a true disgrace to music. Well anyways, we wrote the worst songs in the world (most of them about the guy I liked) and still crack open the notebook that we wrote them in and laugh.
Keyboard
For ten long, boring, weeks a couple students and I were stuck in a room with our music teacher learning "piano" on keyboards. By the end of the quarter I came out with a respectable B and no knowledge how to read the staff.

Performing Arts
With my love of singing and costumes, musical theatre seemed the best way to go. I danced, sung, and acted in all of my elementary shows and loved the hell out of it. In sixth grade, I was sadly too busy to sign up for "Phantom OF The Country Opera" and then in 7th grade I kind of never showed up to rehearsal.. Good job Ann.

Bat Mitzvah Photo Shoot
In my Sunday Diary, I mentioned taking shots for my bat mitzvah sign in board. I didn't include these photos in my post for at the moment, I was having problems uploading them so I decided on sharing some of my favorite shots:
On me: Windsor  party dress, Claire's Tiara, MAC hot pink lipstick (picked it up at the drug store), my bat mitzvah logo (done by my Dad) on a sign.
The weather was surprisingly cold so standing in a strapless dress with bare legs wasn't the best idea for a photo shoot. I could tell my Dad was getting pretty annoyed with me wanting to see every single picture he took after taking it with his Iphone (they came out surprisingly well). I'd like to thank all the people who commented such nice things on my instagram photos of these. It really made my heart do a little happy dance <3.
My Sewing Pieces
This little bit I've got here was supposed to be a D.I.Y but I ended up just cramming it into a little blurb about how talented I am (notice my sarcasm). I thought about sharing my newest creations with you guys!
My Necklace
I just started making more of these after learning how to hand sew these beauties. I have gotten to the point where sewing the little flowers take about ten minutes and attaching them is an extra eight or nine. Still thinking about whether or not I should actually sell them but since I am CLEARLY the nicest person ever (again with the sarcasm) if you would like one, just put in the comments or in my Google+ your colors and I will make you one for FREEEEEEE. I love making these and they are extremely easy to sew for me. My gift to you lovely readers!
My Elastic Skirt
This skirt was made using an extremely confusing BURDA pattern and gave me serious frustration. Having to gather the fabric for the elastic waist was probably the worst though. In the end, the final product was definitely worth it! Best part about wearing something you sew: getting compliments and saying "Thanks I made it." like a true badass.

A Mini Shoutout To My Friend Pietro:
I realize that I say this WAY too much but I'm dead serious. You all must check out my friend Pietro's blog. He is extremely talented and the two of us being young bloggers, help each other out. You know me. I don't suggest something unless it is absolutely FABULOUS.
Link To Pietro's Blog

My Little Note
I just have some quick news.
1) I will be starting to create more and more blog posts and pick up speed on how many I do each week, I promise quality over quantity
2) I will be making an editor's note at the beginning of each month just like Tavi does for ROOKIE. I'm really exited about that!

How To Survive Thrift Shopping

Thrift shopping is probably one of the most frustrating yet rewarding shopping experiences. Yes, most of the stuff you will see in a typical thrift shop isn't name brand. Yes, the shop is giant and seems overwhelming to some. Most importantly, yes you can walk out of the store with a collection of one of a kind items for cheap.
The typical thrift store doesn't look very glamorous once you walk in. You will probably be greeted by a pile of garbage bags full of donations and children's toys. It's what is between those racks where the magic happens. Most thrift stores are pretty big (bigger than most stores) and may seem overwhelming to look through. Trust me, you will survive this mess of random objects.
For the best thrifting experience, I suggest you go alone. Being by myself, I can concentrate better and focus on finding those hidden treasures behind the not as fabulous clothing. If you do choose to bring a friend make sure they are NOT either of two things things:
1) A person who usually shops at high end stores If this person is not willing to search through the un-wearable clothing clearly they're only going to hold you back .
2) An impatient person One of the biggest qualities you need when you go thrift shopping is patience and a person saying "when are we leaving?" isn't something that anyone could take for more then ten minutes.
Another perk of going alone is that you don't have another person watching over you judging your clothing choices.
In addition, you have to be patient. You will probably not find what you want in the first second. Just keep digging and searching. My technique of thrift shopping to just pull out whatever looks interesting. Patterns, fabrics, colors anything that I like I will take off the rack for examination. Nothing is un-wearable until proven.
If you are lucky enough that the thrift shop you are at has a changing room, then make sure to only go in once you've found all your treasures. Then, take your pile of clothing into your dressing room!
My biggest advice for a rookie thrift shopper is to seriously look at the piece you are wearing and think: Do I truly need this? Even though thrift shop prices are cheap, the last thing you need is more crap in your closet (I should not be talking)!
Just have fun and tear up those racks until you find that hidden treasure of your's!
Ann's Thrift Shopping Adventure

I was pretty freaking tempted on buying these Pokemon sheets. Like lets think this one of:
A) Think of how cool I'd look if i brought these to camp.
B) as fabulous as my hot pink sheets are, think about how cool it would be to wake up to pokeballs and Pikachu every morning.
C) THEY. ARE. POKEMON. SHEETS.
In the end, I decided there were more important things to spend 5 bucks on such as vintage skirts and an absolutely adorable romper. Besides, I already have glow in the dark dinosaur sheets for camp!

Again another tempting purchase. I mean look how nerdy and teacher-ous (made up a word) I could look in this vest! This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about with crap in my closet. Well, except for the fact that this is an apple, star, and striped patterned piece of crap.

After convincing my little sister, she FINALLY bought a pair of overalls. Let me tell you how hard it was not to buy a pair myself. Think of all the patches and alterations you could do with a nice pair of denim overalls.
If there is anything that I will always NEED to try on is a good corset. After finding a rather vintage grey and black corset that didn't fit (I don't even need to explain the sadness inside of me), I came across this ridiculous thing. I can't explain how regretful that I didn't try it on.

I feel as though this is the perfect dress for the wedding of  Perrie Edwards and I. Up close, there were jewels and rhinestones attached to the bodice. The sleeves were so cute and puffy that I couldn't help but aw. See you down the aisle in this gown Perrie.

I love looking through the old mugs, plates, and jugs while waiting in line for the dressing room. I ended up stumbling upon a Hello Kitty kitchen set including a plate, cup, and silverware. This will be mine someday.

My Purchases:
After eliminating the crap that I didn't need I ended up walking out of the shop with these incredible finds:
I am in love with this skirt. As you look closer, around the waist there are little red dragons. DRAGONS. The pleats on the piece add an interesting part to the long skirt. The colors are also something I fell in love with. Even though they aren't very bright and cheery for Summer they are a little bit more toned down for the times that I don't want much attention. I am debating weather or not to just wear a plain white tank tucked into it for the skirt is already so amazing or to pair it up with a long cardigan.

These shorts are probably one of my favorites. They are extremely high which i absolutely love. I have two ideas for an outfit:
1) a tight white tank with combat boots and floppy hat
2) a flowy white top with brown boots
I am so extremely exited for the weather to get warmer so I can break out these beauties.

This dress has such a summer feel to it which puts a little smile on my face whenever I see it. One very vintage feature to this piece is that cute little collar (we all know how much I love collars)! In the back, the dress has a little part that ties up almost like a corset which of course what is not to love about that? I'm planning on wearing this with my floppy hat and a cute pair of sandals.

I have already shown you my floppy hat in a previous post but I am so exited about showing this one off! The thing I love most about this accessory is that you can wear it with basically anything and look summery!

Despite the fact that this looks like a dress from far away, I am euphoric to finally own a romper! Unlike most rompers, this one's bottoms are more flowing and I like that because it gives a more sophisticated and put together look than a short tight romper.

This dress gives off the feeling of Spring with cherries decorating that pattern. I will probably end up getting the most use of this piece for I am able to wear it dressy to bar and bat mitzvahs (yes I'm not THAT cut off from human beings that I don't get invited to them) and then also wear it casual with a pair of boots, sandals, or flats to school or to hang out with friends.

This flowing button down is perfect for tucking into a nice pair of shorts, putting a floppy hat over my messy locks, and going casual. I love the fun and bright pattern that gives off a friendly vibe.

Good Luck Thrift Shopping!

Fashion Bible: May

April showers bring May flowers! Exactly four days ago, I celebrated the creation of howfittingblog.blogspot.com. This blog is my baby and I couldn't be more happy with how much it's expanded over these last three months. I mean didn't this website start with a disorganized jumble of words called a "Monthly Fashion Bible"? Without getting deep, I just want to say thank you and I hope you enjoy my May edition of the first thing I ever posted.
Tops

With the weather getting warmer, it's finally time for light weight shirts! My favorite are the button up ones that blouse out when tucked into a pair of pants or shorts. I tried going with bright colors along with cute springy patterns to go with it.
Where to find: Thrift and vintage (expensive)

Pants/ Shorts
It is finally time to break out those shorts! This Summer and end of Spring, I have been wanting to buy a proper pair of high rise shorts with the buttons and everything. I finally found an adorable pair of badge high waisted ones and would love to say that they are kind of the best thing ever. I have seen pairs with patterns on them but I'd have to say, I believe they look better solid. I also prefer solid shorts so it gives room for patterned shirts (don't you dare ever wear patterned bottoms with a patterned top). On those cold days, I whip out a pair of jeans and a summery shirt.
Where To Find: Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters

Dresses
I'm trying to go brighter this month and therefor I decided it was time to start wearing bright, summery, sundresses! I like the lighter ones for the cottony pieces don't flow as well and are hotter. My new favorite kind of dress is the ones with collars for it gives a retro vintage look.
Where to Find: Thrift and Vintage

Accessories
While thrift shopping, I found this beauty under a pile of giant church hats and I have to say, I am in love. Floppy hats are beachy and casual which I like about them. They can also cover up a bad hair day (which is every other day for me). You could wear it with about anything: bathing suit, sundress, shorts etc.

Shoes
Sperry's can go with a cute pair of shorts and a dress or two but what about when you want to look girly? After scavenging through a couple stores at the mall, I finally discovered these treasures. They have cats on them. I repeat THEY. HAVE. CATS. Flats are nice because you can dress them up and down and always give off a cute and feminine look.

Happy May! I wish for sunny days, cute shorts, and end of testing for all of you!
-Ann
