September Favorites

Wow I guess I just totally forgot it was October or something like that but I never made a favorites list of September- welcome to How Fitting guys; in which Ann can't even remember what month it is.
♥Gossip Girl
I don't know if I've told you guys this but have the most embarrassing love for Gossip Girl. I don't even think it's the show that I have such a passion for- just the mystery of Gossip Girl and therefor I have watched five whole seasons (I have one more to go!) just to figure out who this person is. I believe this is getting a little unhealthy though- I began freaking out when all my friends looked up the identity of Gossip Girl and hung it over my head for the rest of the night.

A couple weeks ago, YouTube sensations, Dan and Phil, made a gaming channel that has become one of my favorite gaming places on the internet- I especially like their Sims videos since I am quite the fan of that series.

♥As It Is
OK I have been pretty obsessed with british band, As It Is, for months now but they recently got signed to one of my favorite record labels, Fearless Records, which is completely mental! Lead singer, Patty Walters, made a video here that I would completely recommend you watching. They are also the first UK band to even join the record label which is impressive enough in itself.

♥Leather
I was recently rummaging through my mom's closet when I found I full on treasure trove of leather jackets- they can make about any one of my outfits look badass and I feel an endless amount of power wearing leather.

♥Also this glorious video
It just addresses everything that is messed up about Sam Pepper's "social experiment" in the best way possible
I'm sorry for how awful this post must have been but I did want to bring up the five things in here so I hope you have a happy October and maybe I won't forget what month it is next time.

August Favorites

Welcome to September! Last month gave me a whole lot of time to become obsessed with some of the lovely things I am about to show you

♥Lush
Lush is a YouTube couple vlog channel created by Matthew Lush and Nick Laws in which three times a week, they video blog their day. Though what they do isn't always the most interesting (they mainly just go to Starbucks and Veggie Grill), I find it fascinating that they have been doing this since day one (their first vlog is Matthew asking Nick to be his boyfriend) and though watching their 165 video playlist of every single video they have ever made wasn't the most productive thing to do, I love that you really see their relationship progress from the two being kind of awkward around each other to moving into an apartment together.

♥Feminist Apparel
I found this clothing site's instagram a couple weeks ago and have been obsessed with their shop ever since! Feminist Apparel mainly makes graphic tees (from all different artists) with cute (and usually sarcastic) phrases about feminism. My all time favorites are the "Cats Against Catcalls", "Girls Just Want To Have Fundamental rights" , and the "Misogyny Kills" tees.

♥Trxye
I have been loving australian vlogger, Troye Sivan's, videos for about a year now and when he announced his first real EP, I was over the moon. Trxye really displayed him as this grown man instead of the cute teenager on the internet and my god can he sing. My favorites off the EP are "Fun" and "Gasoline".  The "Happy Little Pill" music video was also gorgeous and I would recommend you 100% watching it.

♥Rose Wholesale
With school just around the corner and me having cleaned out basically everything from my wardrobe, Rose Wholesale was a perfect place for school shopping. Their stuff is super cheap, adorable, and surprisingly well made.

♥Criminal Minds
OK this is obviously not a new obsession (that is made clear by the entire tag on this blog just made for the show) but it was recently added to Netflix so I feel the need to tell you about it. I'm talking all nine seasons which is awesome since season ten is in two months and why not spend all my time re watching everything just to get ready for it? Anyways, if you are yet to see Criminal Minds, I would seriously recommend it because it has to be not only my favorite crime show (I love love love anything crime related on TV) but just so incredible; not to mention a certain man is on it (cough cough Matthew Gray Gubler)

♥NYC Prep
I just discovered this one a couple days ago when my older cousin suggested it (we both have a love for shitty television) and I have to say, this is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. NYC Prep is a reality show following a group of privileged upper east side teenagers and their adventures through prep school. The entire cast and what they do is so ridiculous that the only way you can really watch this show is ironically; some gems include when the Chuck Bass character, PC, decided he was bi and one of the girls goes onto saying "I usually think being bisexual is lame but when PC does it, it's hot." or the time that PC finally did come out but instead of sitting his friends and family and breaking the news like a normal person, he hosts a "coming out party". I think what I'm trying to say is that PC's coming out is about the only actual interesting thing that happens in the show.

Happy September!

Ann's Note: September 2014

Well hello there,
Wow this summer has been a blur and even though it sucks that it's over, I am powering through onto the things to be excited for starting this month and continuing onto the school year starting with our brand new schedule! For the past two years, television hasn't been a big thing in my life and though it still isn't very, I do have a few shows I am passionate about and were renewed for new seasons so every Thursday, I will be discussing my favorite shows; "Hannibal", "Supernatural", "American Horror Story", and "Criminal Minds" (new ones may be added too! Also, if "Full Frontal" gets a season 4, I'll be talking about that.) and the episode that week. I'm super excited to start with that (all the shows premiere in October so I will be starting then) since it will give me a bigger part in the communities of all those programs I love talking about.
Onto what's going on in the fall, the thought of school coming back scares me yet makes me excited at the same time. Maybe just because I am starting high school which is especially stressful but I can't help but dread for the beginning of actually having to be productive again. I just don't think I will ever be ready for this to happen and therefor it being forced upon me is a good thing. Hey maybe I'll learn a thing or two or something like that.
Anyways, I am going to end this post off with some photos from the time I become the less awesome Flower Violet  and took some kool bathtub shots. You've been you, I've been this thing:

July Favorites

One of my favorite months of the year have come to an end and like most, I'm getting pretty anxious for the end of summer coming around but instead of focusing on that, I'm here to talk about my favorites this month:
I Just Hate Everything.com
I found this blog while looking up pictures of Glee's couple, Blaine and Kurt (don't ask why) and instantly fell in love. They mainly discuss television shows from "American Horror Story" to "Ravenswood" and are super hilarious, putting the post into three sections: why I hate it, why it's worth watching (in which they just make fun of it more), and a summary of the episode. I will also have to add that their reviews of "Glee" are the best I have ever read.

Ellie Jayden
I have been following this Irish beauty on her YouTube channel for a couple months now and have recently started reading her blog which I have to say is fantastic. She has an awesome and unique sense of style  and really meaningful things to say- she's definitely one of my new favorite bloggers.

♥Kingsfoil
I found out about this Pennsylvania based band when I bought tickets to see them, Rookie Of The Year, and Say We Can Fly at a show at the Knitting Factory (I wanted to see Braden Barry OK?) and since I was going to be sitting through one of their sets to see Say We Can Fly, it seemed like a good idea to at least check out some of their music. I had quite the obsession with their album, A Beating Heart Is A Bleeding Heart, for awhile and then went onto their other music which is so amazing. Needless to say, I'm over the moon to see them on Monday.

♥Kim Kardashion: Hollywood Life
This one was pretty obvious choice for a favorite. Though the game is mainly tapping things for money, stars, and level ups, there is something there that is addictive. I mean it first starts off with becoming an A lister. For me it was a need and I wouldn't stop until that happened but once you complete that, you need to be #1 which is a journey within itself. Throughout the game, you have to deal with your needy manager, Simon, go to photo shoots, appearances at clubs, walk the runway, and buy fancy homes all over the world. At the moment, my goal is to buy a purse in every color. As you can tell, this game is a good use of my time.

♥PrĂȘt A Manager
Over the past few weeks, I have been spending most my time at this sandwich shop (mainly the one on 27th and 7th) and have fallen in love with their meatball wraps. Pret is a chain throughout New York City (or at least thats only where I've seen it) and their whole thing is making fresh, healthy, food. I would have to admit that I've spent way more time than I should have there.

♥Felt Floppy Hats
I was on vacation at the beach this week and since I have dyed hair that I wanted to keep dark, I needed a hat to wear in the sun. At Forever21, they had a whole assortment of them for ten bucks and let me tell you, they go with about everything.

♥Orange Is The New Black
Though I've been watching the Netflix series for a couple months now (I finished season two last month), I just recently picked up the biography it was based on and fell in love. Though I'm not a huge fan of Piper on the show, I really do appreciate her in the novel and think it is extremely well written.

♥Laverne Cox
Speaking of Orange Is The New Black, I am absolutely in love with the actress of Sophia, Laverne Cox, and how amazing a role model she is. I especially love her interview on "CBS This Morning" where she corrected Gayle King's trans terminology. All in all, I think she is an extremely intelligent woman who I have been looking up to very much

Have a happy August!

Notes Notes Notes

Hello there! I am going to start this post off saying that this month is a little hectic and my anxiety has been pretty terrible over the past couple days because of it. To start off, NJASK is weeks away. WEEKS. For those of you who have not heard me complain enough, I am taking a supplementary math class because I didn't past the standardized test last year. I have already decided for myself that I absolutely do not want this to happen in high school so that means having to pass this year.
Onto a more exciting topic, I have applied to the Norstrom BP Bloggers Board! I got an email about last week from them recognizing my application and telling me they'd be giving me a date for my interview with them by May 2. This means that throughout this month, I have to work on my fashion project for them. For my own fashion project, I am making a look book of my inspirations and what I like about certain outfits. I am trying to make this as perfect as possible for getting this job means a whole lot to me.
This month's note focuses around how busy and anxious I have gotten just to warn you guys that if I disappear from the Internet throughout April, you will know where I have gone!
Happy April,

Fashion Bible: March

And we are back to March again! I find this post somewhat more important than the other fashion bibles for after all, the first ever How Fitting post was a Monthly Fashion Bible for March!
Tops
I love floppy cropped tanks for they are so easy to make anything look automatically casual and just fun. Since it is still Winter, I would suggest wearing skinny jeans (at least that is what I wear) or possibly leggings for bottoms.
Bottoms
OK how could you not love DIY patched jeans? I really like these bottoms for they have a personal touch to them and though you can buy them, I find it really cool that people take the time to make and collect these patches.
 Shoes
I have been really slouchy lately and have taken to wearing mostly sneakers because I'm boring. Though I basically just wear the same pair of white converse every day, I have a certain love for Vans (especially the floral kind) for not only are they super comfortable, they come in all sorts of styles and designs.

Things You Must See: March

Websites
I have  certain love for Emotional Baggage Check, a music website in which you can either "check your bags" by writing a problem of your's or just something you are struggling with and then leaving your email or you can "carry a bag" and write a little note of reassurance to this mystery person and leave a link to a song that you think connects to the topic. I really love this website for I have used it in the past and it really shows you that people care and want to help.
source
Books
This month, I ended up finishing Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock in a day. Not only was the novel perfectly written, the plot was so twisted and beautiful and the character development was A+. The novel follows Leonard, a teenager going through issues with loneliness and abandonment, making the decision to kill his ex-best friend and then himself on his birthday. Everything about it was so unique and Matthew Quick did an extraordinary job of really putting you into Leonard Peacock's mind.
Movies
As awesome as "Frozen" was, Hazel Haye's short film "Super Brainy Zombies" was no doubt my favorite movie last month. The twenty minute film revolves around Hazel and You Tubers such as Chris Kendall, Benjamin Cook, and Jack Howard surviving the zombie apocalypse. As great as the entire film was, the end of it blew me away.

Monthly Fashion Bible- January

Tops
I recently got the chance to go through my grandpa's closet and long story short, I have more flannel than I know what to do with. I really like long flannel shirt because there is so much to do with them! I have gotten into just wear a black tank under one and tying up the front whereas you can tie one around your waist, wear it loose, or tie up the loose ends.
Bottoms
A couple months ago, my favorite cousin, Maggie, gave me a whole ton of shorts. With Winter going on at the moment, it is impractical to wear them bare so I recently have been showing them off with tights underneath! I really like this look because it looks really "rookie" mixed with modern fashion. On top, I normally wear a flannel because I like how my long shirts are like cardigan that is longer than the shorts.
Shoes
OK OK I sound like every other person at my school but I actually really like Converse at the moment. Unlike other sneakers, these don't look too sporty and can make a more formal outfit look a bit more casual.
Hair
Though shoulder length hair is one of my least favorite hairstyles ever, I really love how Taylor Momesen pulled it off with her's curled! It looks so cute and bouncy!

Things You Must See: January

source
Music
I have been really liking The Pretty Reckless. Lead singer, Taylor Momsen, is so angst filled and puts so much emotion (mostly anger) into the songs. All of their tracks get stuck in your head (mostly Make Me Wanna Die) and are so fun yet they have variety with slower more emotional songs such as "You" and "Zombie". Also, Taylor Momsen is a total babe inside and out.
Websites
Is it taking self promotion to a whole new level if I put my own website in here? I recently started a personal blog ! My reasoning for this was because as much as I absolutely love How Fitting, I really wanted an actual blog also. Don't worry guys! I am still putting all my effort in here but I am still going to be writing at Pubescent Drama Queen (get my Pierce The Veil reference there).
Television
I have recently gotten extremely into Freaks and Geeks! Though it is very different to the other shows I watch such as Doctor Who and Supernatural, I like how non intense the entire show is and the type of relatable comedy they use.
Movies
A couple of my camp friends and I recently got together with one of my favorite movies ever, "10 Things I Hate About You". Everyone in the room had different tastes and the romantic comedy had something for everybody. Also, who can resist Patrick Verona?

Monthly Fashion Bible: December

December finally! Though it is snowing and oh so cold, December has its perks with fashion.
Tops

I realize how unoriginal it is to say that I am in love with sweaters, but I can't help but love them! Fuzzy sweaters aren't only comfy and cozy, but can go with a whole lot of things! The other great thing about sweaters is that they come in all sorts of different shapes and materials. Some of my favorites would be cropped sweaters (pictured left) heavy fabric ones that are adorable with a button down underneath (pictured right), and light weight ones with cute designs on them.
Bottoms

Though I am not usually seen wearing short skirts, I have really fallen in love with circle and suspender skirts. The great thing with these type of skirts is that they look great with about anything. Heavy sweaters, tee shirts, crop tops, you name it. My favorite combination is a circle or suspender skirt with a heavy, over sized, sweater draped over it. I really like circle skirts a whole lot too for they come in so many different fabrics and lengths. My friend, Frannie has a really awesome velvet circle one (shown to the left) and I found the cutest, leather skirt with lightning bolts on Tumblr (right)! Same thing with suspender skirts. One of my favorite types was a black one with lace and buttons going down it that I also found on Tumblr. I personally, would wear heavy tights (depending on how thin the fabric of the skirt is) or knee socks to create a sweet preppy look.

Shoes
I talked about these a couple months ago, but I figured they were all too awesome not to mention again. As you guys may know, I have a serious love for combat boots and when I saw a pair of jelly combats, it was instant love. I have a pair of them myself and as pretty as floral looks, I really prefer the clear kind. These shoes are comfortable and pretty sturdy for walking long distances (I walk half an hour to school in them) and can double as awesome rain boots! One downside to jelly shoes is how much you sweat in them. When I went to see Paramore, after dancing for about fifteen minutes, my feet began to sweat like crazy. Other than that, I am in love with these shoes and would definitely recommend them for this month.
Hair
I recently got my hair cut even shorter and at first, I hated it for I could barely do anything with it. After seeing Hayley Williams on the cover of Bust Magazine, that changed. Hayley's curls are so short and bouncy which really compliment her face shape. I also love this hair style for you can wear them to school in your regular clothing as a more casual look or make them extremely elegant and fancy for a special occasion. I am also going to point out how not only was Hayley on the cover of this magazine but there is an article about Tavi Gevinson inside!

Happy December!

Things You Must See- End Of The Year Edition

Music
With the year of 2013 almost coming to an end, there were some amazing albums that came out this year (that I have not talked about yet) such as Bring Me The Horizon's Sempiternal, Paramore's self titled album, Kate Nash's Girl Talk, and Alex Day's Epigrams and Interludes which are all extremely amazing albums that I would seriously suggest.
Movies
There were an insane amount of great short films released this year! My two favorites would have to be Charlie McDonnell's "The Tea Chronicles" and Bertie Gilbert's "Stray Dog" which were both so extremely weird and wonderful. In addition, Charlie will be releasing his second film, "Offline" which from what he has described, is a disaster film about when the Internet shuts down. Knowing Charlie (and from seeing the trailer), there will be a whole lot of comedy involved! Another one of my favorite movies that was released last month would have to be "This Is A Wasteland", a documentary that follows the crazy tour of Pierce The Veil.
Television
At this year's Vidcon, Hannah Hart, Grace Helbig, and Mamrie Hart announced that the trio were filming a web series titled "Camp Takota". The show has been rumored to be released this month on YouTube! Knowing these three girls, "Camp Takota" will be filled with comedy and great acting.
Happy December!

Monthly Fashion Bible: November (Lazy Edition)

OK OK I realize I was supposed to do a fashion bible but I am seriously unprepared and stressed out about the impending Nanorimo (I have to outline my novel) and just so I am going to show you pictures of pretty girls wearing pretty things and just I have written three posts in the past two hours and I am too tired to function and just OK.
I seriously have a thing for crosses to the point where I wish my family was christian so I could wear them without people like wanting to throw rocks at me for not being a part of their religion or something and being a wannabe (what am I even talking about?). This girl's hair is also straight up gorgeous. I am usually not that into dying your entire head unnatural colors but I seriously find her long, purple, ombre to be gorgeous.
My friend described this as "pink goth" which sounds about right. I seriously love how her dress is very short while the outfit still looks conservative for some reason. I am just head over heels in love with her hair and flower crown too.
This is my latest favorite picture. I love how vintage they look yet have a dash on modern in their outfits. The girl on the right's cat tattoo is also totally rad.
At the Tavi Gevinson thing, I met a girl who did her hair like this and I absolutely love it. If my hair was still long, I would absolutely copy this style.
Pictures from Tumblr
Frannie's outfit was adorable.

OK OK so a couple weeks ago, I told some seventh grader that I liked his glasses and then this happened and just I don't even know... Like I am so exhausted and just I am about to pass out how tired I am...

Ann Writes Notes

Hi There! God there is so much happening in November! Hanukkah, Thanksgiving, and the ever so stressful, Nanorimo. Though I have participated in Camp Nanorimo, this will be my first ever dash to
50,000 words in November. To tell you the truth, I have no idea whether to be excited or scared. I mean even during the Summer when I had no school and only 30,000 words to write, I was already stressed out so add 20,000 words and seven hours of my day taken out and you have the situation I will be in. With so much overwhelming writing going on, I will do my best with posts though expect shorter posts than usual and more "guest writers". I will do my best I promise but if I end up behind on words or just get stressed out with how dreadful I am at writing fiction, that is I guess what I will have to resort to. I think the moral of this post is how terrible a blogger I am.
Love you guys!
Ann

Monthly Fashion Bible: October

Bottoms
Frannie's leggings
Though I wear skirts about 99% of the time, I can't help but fall in love with fun patterns on leggings! The other thing I like about these bottoms is how comfortable they are! I seriously love the feeling of how stretchy they are. Leggings are also awesome for Fall when you're getting used to the colder weather and would rather not wear tights (though I do). I do own a couple pairs of plain black leggings but my favorite are no doubt ones with fun patterns on them. I've seen cute leggings about in every store but my favorite would be the ones from Forever21 like in the picture to the right (photo by Frannie).
Tops
Since I have been so into patterns this month, solid tops seem to be all I wear. Though a plain black shirt is cute, I still wanted to be interesting which is what sheer tops are perfect for. You can find sheer tops at about any lingerie store though I get mine from my aunt who designs clothes.
Accessories
I am a fairly girly person so bows are something that I will wear once in awhile. Though I don't usually wear a bow when I am in a skirt or dress for I don't want to look all too girly, I find that these hair accessories look adorable with a pair of jeans or leggings. My cousin gave me the bow I am wearing on the left, stores such as Icing and Hot Topic have awesome bows.
Happy October!

Ann's Note- October

Autumn Leaves
Hey you!
October by far, is my favorite month. Not only do I celebrate my fourteenth birthday on the eleventh (cough cough wink wink nudge nudge) and get to walk around dressed up getting free candy, but a lot of pretty rad things are happening in October. For one, I am seeing Tavi Gevinson on the fifth and The Rookie Yearbook came out today. October is cool as frick. This month on How Fitting is also pretty freaking cool. We have an awesome new member: Sophie who is one of the coolest people I have ever met. October is also the month is which I begin my "adventure" of living by Seventeen Magazine. As I told Viv, this could either be the coolest thing I have done through this blog or the stupidest thing to put my time towards. I guess that is the mindset I am in for every adventure. All in all, October is a month full of adventure, autumn leaves, and me celebrating the day of my birth (on the 11th).
Love you guys

Monthly Fashion Bible: August

Here we are in August! With the help of my friend and fellow How Fitting writer Emma, we can't wait to give you guys the latest clothing and makeup that we love and hope to see in this last month of American (and Italian and my friends have told me) Summer vacation!
Shorts
I have so far been really obsessed with patterned shorts! My favorite has been floral for it has a vintage and summer feel. Though the ones pictured to the left are black and white, I really do love colorful flower print to add a pop of something lively into every outfit I wear.
Tops
With patterned and printed shorts being a must this month, I have turned to solid tops. My favorite colors being white and black for it goes with basically everything and gives room for the shorts to really shine. I would definitely not suggest wearing anything other than a solid top with printed bottoms for it really is all to much.
Shoes
Though I have been wearing quite a lot of flip flops, I did find a pair of pretty freaking awesome boots that I could not help sharing. I am in love with everything combat boots and when I found these waterproof, floral, combats it was instant love. At the moment, I have been wearing this pair and my three year old black ones that I have given a makeover in sharpie. I have been living by the fact since sixth grade that you can never have too many combat boots no matter
Makeup
As one of our lovely writers Emma has stated in her past two posts this month, we are going natural and showing off true beauty with just a little of what I call "helpers". Meaning, this month not only do we suggest it, but I myself am going to try and go a bit more natural and wear the least amount of makeup possible.
Happy August!

Monthly Fashion Bible: June

We hit June! You know what that means! Sunny days, warm nights, and lightweight clothing! With me going off camp in a few weeks, most of my clothing for June is more causal and durable than the more high maintenance pieces I usually wear. So lets jump right into the third installment of "Monthly Fashion Bibles". You could also title this blog post "Ann Gets Lazy With Fashion"
Tops
Yes, I think we all know about my deep hatred for T-shirts but I've been dealing with them for the past couple days. Even though I can't stand wearing Ts I have been finding a couple pretty decent ones such as an old Ed Hardy I found in my closet. It's not the name written across the chest that I like. It;s the design. Even though it's hard, I like to find personality in the simple tops I wear and hope that somehow that'll make them interesting. To add some fun to this otherwise simple top, I'd tuck into a cute pair of shorts and add a cute pair of sneakers. It's casual and cute!
Bottoms
I have cleaned out my drawers of most of my jeans and stocked up on more shorts. My favorites are fun solid colors or just plain jean shorts. As cute as patterned ones are, they are a bitch to pair up with tops. I mean how many solid tops to do you own?
Shoes
My cat flats are still my go to shoes even though I am pretty exited about my new converse! As much as I hate wearing sneakers I am pretty freaking exited to walk around in these "Wonder Woman" sneakers. I prefer converse over other sneakers and running shoes for all though they aren't the most athletic shoes, they are way most unique and fun!
Accessories and Dresses
I didn't add in these two sections for this month I've been wanting to go for a more casual look now that slouchy summer is coming up. Even though these two are my favorite sections,I won't be wearing much of them.
Hope you have an awesome June!
