Outfits!

Holy crappy tomorrow is my first day of eighth grade and I am absolutely not excited in any way possible.
Monday
On Monday, my mom and I went out to get some new stuff for my room since that I just moved up to the attic (yes I have become that antisocial) so I just went with my Bring Me The Horizon tank and a black skirt with elastic at the top that I got from being in a play in fifth grade. I then put an Icing flower crown in my hair.
Thursday
To high holiday services, I wore a thrift dress and straightened my hair. After services though, I wore a Paramore shirt that I got from Hot Topic and a skirt I got from Urban Outfitters. I put yet another headbandI got from Icing in my hair to add more interest to it. I then just wore average makeup for since my hair was straight, I didn't want to look too fake.
Friday
I got my hair cut that day! Since I would just be sitting in a chair, I wore a pair of Abbey Dawn checker board pants and a Blink 182 shirt I got from Forever21. My hair was still straight (
before I got it cut) from the day before though once the hairdresser washed it, I ended up with my natural hair for the rest of the day.

Friday Extra: What Would Daria Do?

I actually used to not watch much television and I still don't watch much but one of the few shows I watch is Daria. The show follows an unpopular, angst filled, teenage girl who basically just makes fun of the entire world in a witty, sarcastic, way that you cannot help but love. Daria has such an attitude that is so awesome and bitchy at the same time and therefor, you cannot help but love her. I find Daria to be such a great character for those she is cynical and rude and just such a big smart ass, she still has some teenage girl inside of her. She has her moments in which she makes stupid decisions such as getting a belly button ring for her crush, Trent Lane. I like how unrealistic yet realistic Daria is for it makes the show interesting yet not too crazy.
The one problem I have with the show could be how they portray the girls who like fashion. These four girls are stupid and self centered. I have learned to just find it funny for it is just a cartoon and you really cannot get angry or offended by these four characters for you really cannot take a television show so seriously. All in all, Daria is an amazing show and probably my favorite character ever.

Fashion Bible: September

Well here we are. About all of my friends are going back to school soon and I really don't know if I am excited or dreading it. Though classes suck, I always like the fact that school is filled with people meaning I have a place to flaunt my outfits!
Tops
I have been getting really into tight fitting tees! I really hate wearing a tee shirt and jeans but sticking a band tee into a skirt around my waist is surprisingly cute. Either that or loose tee shirts. I recently bought a Blink 182 shirt from Hot Topic and I love how it blouses out in a skirt with elastic!
Skirts
As I've previously said, my thing right now is most definitely skirts with elastic around the waist to cinch an outfit all together.
Accessories
Since I am such an Arabelle Siciardi wannabe, my favorite accessory store at the moment would have to be Bonlook. This glasses website is amazing. Instead of ordering a pair of glasses and realizing they don't look right on you, they have a virtual try on where using a webcam, you can basically try on your pair of glasses. My favorite part is the personal designers. The people of bonlook send a personalized video of what would look best on you! The actual glasses are oh so adorable too!
Happy September!

An Interview With Eilish Gilligan

When I checked the How Fitting email inbox at the beginning of the week, I was expecting the usual mail from either Emma or Fiona but to my surprise, I found an email from the ever so lovely Eilish Gilligan talking about her band Frida. To make a long story short, I fell in love with the band, asked Eilish if possibly she could answer some questions for me and I fangirled the entire time. Before I show you lovelies our conversation, I would just like to mention how lovely Elish was the entire time and how I cannot thank her enough for doing this for me. You rock Eilish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who is your musical inspiration?
Our musical inspirations range from all the beautiful goddesses of music such as Kate Bush, Bjork, Joni Mitchell, Florence Welch...to the soul kings, such as Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. We like to describe our genre as a big hot bubbling melting pot of indie pop and funk 'n' soul.
Have you ever had to deal with hate towards yourself or your music? If so, how has it impacted you?
Never directly...although that's a hard question. People often comment on my clothing but in fairness I do dress pretty bizarrely, and usually people are really cool and open to my silly outfits. I guess you'll always come across 'haterz' in your life, but you just have to brush it off and keep on doing what you know you do best.Does your music have some sort of message or story?
All of our songs generally address a specific story or emotion, or both. I find it relatively easy to write about something I have experienced myself - when you have actually been sleeping outside some one's house in your car, or sitting on the train trying to hide the fact that you're crying after just breaking up with your boyfriend, that real-experience, real-emotion is easily recognised by the listener as real, rather than contrived.
Who do you think is your demographic?
Umm... I guess I like to think that we appeal to teenage kids, probably with blogs, like the kids that like to stay inside and eat pizza and think about their feelings for most of the day.
What is your favorite quote in music? Why?
It's really simple, but one time Joni Mitchell said: 'I love to dance.' I don't really know why I love that so much...I think maybe it's because she wrote so many beautifully heartbreaking, fragile, tragic songs in her lifetime - and to say that she likes to dance just goes to show that she understands the beauty of dancing for the sake of dancing and how wonderful it can be. Or maybe I just like it because I love to dance too (even though I'm not very good).
When you're not making music, what are you up to?
It's such a lame answer but I'm usually listening to music or thinking about making music etc. For most people they have, like, a job, and then a hobby...for me my job is also my hobby and it's really really awesome. I like to read and do internet stuff too - I have a blog which I update on a pretty regular basiseilish-gilligan.blogspot.comWhy did you choose How Fitting to email?
I love love love Rookie Mag and you guys have that vibe - as soon as I saw your page of contributors (all chicks) I couldn't resist!
What do you hope to see in your band's future?
Success and happiness.

Frida is an amazing band that I could not recommend more! I give a huge good luck to Eilish and the rest of Frida for success in their future.

Outfits!

Hello darlings! I am so sorry that I never wrote up an outfits post the other week! I didn't get off the train from the Hamptons until later and Supernatural got in the way of everything and this week I just kind of stayed in pajamas so I went with doing my outfits from last week and two from this week!
Two Weeks Ago
Monday
I ended up going into town with Emma and I wore a brown Forever21 tank a pair of badge striped shorts (I dyed them) also from Forever21 and a hand me down knitted vest that my best friend Vivi gave to me. I just wore my regular makeup but I had just started using liquid eyeliner so the line is a little off! I then just braided my hair to the side for that looks simple and sweet to me.
Wednesday
I didn't exactly feel like putting an outfit together so I just wore regular makeup, left my hair down, and put on a striped sundress I got from a garage sale a year ago.
Sunday
This could possibly one of my new favorite outfits. I went out to breakfast with my sister and mom wearing a knee length skirt that I wore in a fifth grade school play and a cropped Forever21 top that I borrowed from my little sister.

Last Week
Friday
Vivi called and ask if I wanted to go to the beach for the weekend with her and we had to get ready in an hour to catch our train! I wore a tribal print floppy top that I got from consignment and my favorite Forever21 floral shorts.
Sunday
I went out wearing a long Forever21 skirt and a tight fitting tee shirt that I got thrift.

Things You Must See: September

Well here we are and the Summer is soon coming to a close hopefully, the things I have put together will somehow cheer you up!
Music
I have about three friends who are into the whole punk pop and screamo genres of music and after having my friend Elana basically tell me "Ann, if you don;t listen to Fall Out Boy then I will never talk to you again", I caved in and had a listen to their latest album, "Save Rock And Roll" I kind of sort of got addicted. I really love the intensity of Fall Out Boy and trust me, about all of their songs will get stuck in your head.
Websites
I have recently discovered one of my new favorite blogs written by a ninth grader in my town. Crazerluzer is absolutely adorable and I love Luz's fashion taste. Her writing is amazing and just the entire website it so cute!
Television and Videos
I have two this month for I couldn't decide which one I wanted to blog more about! One day, while I was scrolling through YouTube, I came across one of my new favorite vloggers ever. Christian Novelli has this adorable personality and can just make me laugh how cute he is. Christian has this shy, clever, and really cute personality and just does so well in front of a camera. Only in a Christian Novelli video could someone write a One Direction fanfiction in which Harry Styles and Louis Tomilson play Scrabble and get into a fight or Chris could paint a wooden penguin statue and just simply say "I believe he is planning to overthrow the government." Next, I must talk about the thing that has been taking over my life. Supernatural. Though at first, I wasn't really sure if it my thing since I am terrified of everything, but once watching it, I was hooked. The plot of each episode is so thrilling and the character development is incredible. I mean it gets to the kind of addiction where I seriously finished an entire season in a day. A DAY. Expect a full out post about this show later on.
Movies
Source
This month, my friend Vivi called me up telling me there was a documentary about our favorite movie ever, "Trolls 2" and I had to see it. Best Worst Movie follows the lives of the actors after what was voted to be the worst movie of all time and their lives now. Not only do you see how the main characters from "Trolls 2" are doing but see the full out fandom made around this terrible horror film. Though I could talk and laugh about this for hours, I don't want to spoil anything for you!

The Girl Who Never Sleeps

OK so I seriously am wide awake and it is one o'clock in the morning and I cannot go to sleep and I have a new room for I moved up to the attic and I just don't know what to do with myself. Oh my God and I have no idea what to do with myself. Bed selfies? Why not.
Ok look at the middle picture and tell me I do not look exactly like Carrie Hope Fletcher. Try to forget the giant Edward Cullen poster above my head... I am having a serious problem in which I cannot choose between listening to Sleeping With Sirens or All Time Low or just watching Supernatural. So I have this giant jar of trail mix that I'm binging on right now. Ok I seriously do not deserve to exist if this is what I do at 1 am. Now I want to light a candle but I don't have a match or lighter. Life is not OK. It is seven O'clock in the morning in Italy. I'm hoping Pietro is up so he can make me feel a little less pathetic. Wait, who is up at seven in the morning on a summer day? OK pause for a second to show how perfect my room looks. This was taken a couple days OK by the way so it doesn't look exactly like this.
I think I should go to sleep now....

Sunday Diary: Hair Diary

Flashback
I have big hair. Like seriously giant hair like take about six girls and all their hair added together will still not be nearly as much hair I have on my head. For the past 13 years, I have absolutly hated myself for it and have put myself under the label as “forever alone” and “ugly” just becuase my hair wasn’t as thin as the other girls at school. A lot of people made fun of me at school and would regularly ask me “Ann do you brush your hair” just because my hair is so wild that it looks like I do not take care of it. Even my best friend told me I looked ugly (we aren’t friends anymore!). I listened to them and presumed myself as just an ugly person because my hair was so wild. In sixth grade, I would cry myself to sleep about every night for the kids at school had bullied me so much and that every single time I looked in a mirror, I just felt like total crap. My mom finally gave in and let me get a treatment called Caretin which of course, could not calm my hair. I was miserable and just really hated myself in every way possible. Then I came across a magical girl. I mean she was gorgeous and the best part was she was friends with one of my favorite singers Alex Day! I stalked her online and just fell in love with her. She has called me her “friend” and was exactly like how I wanted to be. She was so sweet and accepting and was just plain gorgeous. I stopped straightening my hair after it and I have never been happier. I can not thank Carrie Hope Fletcher more. This one girl has done so much for me and seriously, I have no way to repay her.
love,
Ann

Ann's Note- September

Tumblr
Summer flew by all too fast and if you haven't already started school, classes will be starting soon (Fiona's school is already started). September can kind of be known as one of the worst months ever. I mean not only do you have to switch gears from sleeping half the day and staying up all night but September is extremely awkward. You haven't seen more than half of these people in a good couple months! To help you get through this crazy transition and feel you a little less nervous about school (says the girl who is freaking out), The How Fitting girls got together to make a "Back To School Week" starting Friday the sixth where for that Friday Extra and the rest of the week, the three of us will be putting out back to school themed posts.  I want to take this long break as a time to become a "better Ann". I am not saying that I want to become a WHOLE new person but work on the things that I don't like about myself so I can finally focus on the things that I love about myself. I don't want to be as quiet. I don't want to hold myself back from doing things that I want to do and saying things that I want to say just because of my horrible shyness. Yes, I am aware that my anxiety and shyness aren't just going to poof away but unlike last year, I want to work on this problem of mine instead of just being miserable about it and not doing anything. So here we are. A little bit more than a week until I become a big scary eighth grader. Though September can be the month where I probably get the most anxiety, I am somewhat excited to have a place to show off my outfits. Good luck you guys!
-Ann
P.S I am so sorry that this past week was a little bit of a mess! Fiona just moved back to America (yay!) and also started school so didn't have time to write up posts with so much going on. This past Thursday, Emma was on vacation and on Monday, I couldn't write an outfits post for I was on a surprise trip to the beach for the weekend with Vivi.
